Canillo is perfectly placed within the Grandvalira ski area to benefit from the excellent snow which falls on the region. The high altitudes of the ski slopes across this Andorran domain have virtually guaranteed snow cover from November until May every year and the average snow depth on the slopes is around one metre. As the Pyrenees have quite a Southerly latitude the sun often shines on the area, however to stop this affecting the snow Grandvalira has an advanced snow making system which can enhance the snow cover on most of the slopes. |
