The ski area around Alpbach receive lots of snow every year, on average around 600cm falls on the slopes. And as these runs are mainly North-West facing they don't suffer too much damage from the sun, which contributes to the ski season lasting until the end of April. Another factor which helps this long season is that most of the runs are on grassy meadows which need very little snow cover, meaning the slopes are suitable for skiing and boarding early and late in the season. And just in case the natural snow needs a boost Alpbach has an artificial snow system which covers 80% if its pistes. |
