The winter season in Gastein begins at the end of November and runs until the end of April. The high altitude of the region, combined with the average yearly snow fall of around 800cm, means that the ski areas have reliable snow conditions throughout the season. To ensure the pistes have the perfect surface Gastein has 590 snow cannons, and the amount of off-piste skiing and boarding available helps reduce the wear on the slopes. |
