Gerlos and the Zillertal Arena benefit from a typical Northern Tyrol Alpine climate, and they regularly receive around six metres of snowfall every year. This snow lands on the slopes of the Zillertal Arena and allows skiers and snowboarders to enjoy the ski areas from December. And the high altitude of the slopes means that there’s great snow cover until spring. To ensure the slopes have perfect surfaces for snow sports the Arena has 34 piste machines which prepare the slopes every night. And in case the natural snow needs to be enhanced there are 216 hectares of the Zillertal Arena which are covered by artificial snow making machines. |
