The area around Kaprun receives an average of 200cm of snow every year. And thanks to the cold temperatures this snow is well preserved throughout the season. In autumn the Kitzsteinhorn glacier opens for snow sports, and stays open well into the summer. Andfrom December until April the Maiskogel and Schmittenhöhe ski areas are open for winter sports and have a perfect covering of snow. These slopes also have snow insurance in the form of numerous snow cannons, which can cover the slopes with artificial snow should the natural snow need some help. |
