Mayrhofen's ski area is split between the two mountains, Ahorn and Penken. Ahorn is a popular starting point for beginners as there are lots of easy runs and the fantastic White Lounge, a popular place to relax and socialise. Down Ahorn there's also a 5km red run to the village. Penken has skiing and boarding opportunities for all levels: around the summit there are great beginners slopes, intermediates will enjoy the long runs down Penken to the neighbouring resort of Finkenberg, and for advanced skiers there's plenty to challenge and entertain - especially the Harakiri run which has the steepest descent in Austria. Mayrhofen is very board-friendly and even claims to the speak the language of snowboarders - "snowboardish." There are awesome freeriding opportunities and the Vans Penken Park outstrips any other funpark in Tirol. |
