Pettneu / Arlberg Ski Resort Information
Sitting at 1,228m in one of Austria's best ski regions, Pettneu am Arlberg has access to the world famous ski areas of the Arlberg. A quiet and pretty mountain town Pettneu am Arlberg is a great alternative to the bigger more well known towns in the area, like St Anton, as it's less expensive, more relaxed, and still has fantastic access to the slopes. Pettneu's own ski area has 15km of mixed slopes with something for everyone, and the free shuttle buses can take you in around ten minutes to the 280km of marked pistes and 180km of un-groomed runs in the Arlberg and St Anton ski areas. Known for the quality of the snow and spectacular scenery these ski areas have perfectly prepared pistes for every ability level, as well as plenty of unprepared freeride areas, and facilities for freestyling - St Anton is home to the Stanton Park, a first-class terrain park where snowboarders and freeskiers of all levels will find obstacles and features to suit them.
The landscape of the Arlberg region is also perfect for many other winter sports, like cross-country skiing, tobogganing, curling, snowshoe walking, and ice climbing. Horse drawn sleigh rides are a fun way to see this scenery without exerting too much energy. And if you want some time away from the snow Pettneu has some great alternative activities - especially in the Wellnesspark Arlberg-Stanzertal. This fantastic facility has saunas, steam baths, indoor swimming pools for sport and relaxation, a kids pool, and various massage and spa treatments. The centre also has a cafe, restaurant, bar, and sun terrace where you can relax and enjoy the scenery.
Evenings in Pettneu tend to be quieter than in the bigger neighbouring towns, which makes it an ideal destination for families. There are a good choice of restaurants and bars for the après ski hours, as well as the possibility of night tobogganing on the lit slope. Located only around one hour from Innsbruck airport Pettneu is easy to get to and is a great destination for quiet family trips and serious skiing adventures of all lengths.
