With skiing and snowboarding normally available on the weekends throughout November and the area officially opening fully from December until the end of April you can see why Montafon is world renowned for its snow. Almost guaranteed, the snow in the region is excellent and it's all thanks to the low pressure weather systems which originate over the Atlantic and dump abundant amounts of snow onto the mountains around Montafon. The snow in the region is preserved really well until spring, and just in case the cover on the lower slopes begins to deteriorate the resorts have artificial snow cannons which ensure the village runs stay open all season.
