Snow St Johann in Tirol

On the perfect base of grassy Alpine slopes the snow of the Kitzbühel Alps falls and provides the ideal surface for snow sports. Thanks to the cloud band which hovers over the Alpine Divide this regions receives lots of heavy snowfall, and since records began in the 1950s this amount of snow has been increasing. With normally around eight metres of snow falling on the mountains, and cold temperatures to preserve it, the Kitzbühel Alps are a fantastic destination for winter sports. And in case the natural snow should unexpectedly deteriorate the ski areas are covered by 3,440 artificial snow making machines which can guarantee snow on around 70% of the slopes.
