The climate of the Kitzbühel Alps is perfect for winter sports, as there is a lot of precipitation in the air which turns to snow over the mountains and coats the ski areas around St Johann in Tirol and the Kitzbüheler Alpen. The snow in these ski areas is preserved really well by the low temperatures until springtime, and the quality of the snow found on the slopes of the St Johann is particularly good. This is because the ski area is on the North-side of the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain and therefore receives very little damage from the winter sunshine.
