Winter brings cold temperatures and heavy snowfall to the Banff area. The area is known for being incredibly cold, an average winter day has temperatures of around -12° C. Thankfully the region benefits from weather phenomena called chinooks. These can quickly bring strong winds and springtime temperatures to the area, and their warming effect can last for several days or weeks. Although temperatures may be low you shouldn't forget the sun which is incredibly strong there. Banff has a high to extreme UV rating all year long so sun screen, hat , and sunglasses are a must. |
