As Ax les Thermes is situated in the French Pyrenees its climate is milder than that of ski resorts in the Alps, and surprisingly this Southern region receives a lot of snow every year even on ski areas around 1,500m in altitude. Another benefit of skiing or snowboarding in Ax les Thermes' region of the Pyrenees is that there's very little glaciation and therefore a low risk of crevasses. Also with the three ski areas of Ax les Thermes having varied landscapes if there's poor weather on one part of the mountain you can always find a more sheltered area to ski or board in.
