St Jean d'Aulps and the Portes du Soleil area as a whole have a great snow record. Receiving an average of 800cm a year, the natural snowfall in the region is reliable. And thanks to the high altitudes of the slopes this snow is well maintained until Spring. If however the pistes needs an extra covering St Jean d'Aulps, and the other resorts, all have advanced artificial snow making systems. Using water from reservoirs the teams in the resorts can create artificial snow on a huge number of slopes, and as no chemicals are used in the process it's all incredibly environmentally friendly. |
