Vars with Snowrental

The high altitude ski resort of Vars is one the most Southern resorts in France, and also one of the sunniest. Sitting amongst the Queyras, Massif des Ecrins, and the Ubaye mountains Vars receives around 300 days of sunshine a year. And thanks to Vars' height at 1,850m, with slopes reaching up to 3,000m, you can enjoy great snow sports in the area along with this fantastic Mediterranean climate.
Made up of four different villages you can choose to spend your holiday in Vars in quaint 11th century hamlets or in modern purpose-built surroundings. There's accommodation to suit all budgets and no matter where you stay you'll have fantastic access to the slopes of Vars, and its neighbouring resort of Risoul. Together they make La Forêt Blanche ski area and have 185km of marked slopes to explore. The ski schools in Vars are excellent for learners and there are plenty of easy green and blue runs between the two resorts so beginners are free to discover the area. The terrain is incredibly varied with slopes both above and below the tree-line, so there are plenty of forest trails for all ability levels including some tricky mogulled slopes. Vars is also well known for its speed skiing run and the fantastic off-piste opportunities available around La Forêt Blanche ski area. There are around twenty freeride trails accessible straight from the resort's lifts and even more further afield, the mountain guides can show you the best areas and ensure you have a fantastic experience. Surfland is an awesome terrain park for freestylers with plenty of rails, kickers, and quarter pipes. And the area also has two natural half-pipes and an Olympic sized half-pipe.
Along with downhill, off-piste, and freestyle skiing and snowboarding Vars also has facilities for many other winter sports, including speed skiing, dog sledding, snowmobile tours, paragliding, tobogganing, hiking, and snowshoeing. And in the villages you'll find even more activities. There's an ice rink, swimming pools, and many spas where you can relax. In the evenings the bars and restaurants come alive, and at the weekends the après ski is particularly lively.
