The villages of Gressoney La Trinite and Gressoney St Jean are perfectly placed within the Lys Valley, which is one of the three Monte Rosa valleys, this means that from Gressoney you have access to the huge Monterosa ski area. Surrounded by the peaks of the Monte Rosa massif the ski areas in this region have around 200km of marked slopes with terrain to suit every ability level, great snow cover, and some fantastic views of the surrounding high peaks - the Monte Rosa is the second highest mountain in Europe. This massive ski area covers altitudes between 1,186m at Alagna up to 3,550m on the Punta Indren, this variety of terrain ensures there are slopes and off-piste areas for everyone - the extreme off-piste descents are a huge draw for the World's most advanced riders. And one of the wildest freeride trips is found by taking a helicopter up to the peak of Monte Rosa glacier and skiing or snowboarding all the way down to the Swiss ski resort of Zermatt. This landscape of super high peaks is also great for ski mountaineering and ice climbing. If you prefer lower altitude activities the snowy meadows of the Lys Valley are ideal for cross-country skiing and snowshoe walking, and back in Gressoney St Jean you can enjoy ice sports on the natural rink.

Not all about winter sports, in Gressoney La Trinite you can enjoy the facilities at the sports centre and swimming pool, and in the traditional town of Gressoney St Jean there are weekly markets to explore and a wealth of history to be discovered. During the après ski hours in both villages you can enjoy the local and international cuisine in the restaurants, and there are a variety of bars where you can relax and enjoy a few drinks.
