K2 Skis Fujative Ski Equipment Review

K2 Skis say this about their Fujative skis.
This unique creation is Pep Fujas’‘ brainchild and fits his desire to have a ski designed as the ultimate park tool. It is kept super stiff underfoot with the Triaxial braided core to retain its ability to stomp landings and not wash out in transitions. The ski escapes traditional ski design towards both the tip and tail, where a distinctive wood core allows it to be flexed and pressed in ways most other skis cannot compete with. The cap construction keeps the weight to a minimum while the strands of carbon fiber maximize your ollie power. Dimensions: 113/85/104 Target Performance: Performance Park, Pipe and Jib Radius: 23m @179 Construction: Torsion Box Vertical Cap Core: Fir Features: Twin tip, Unique Flex Pattern, Triaxial Braided Core, Vertical Cap, New Tip and Tail Rivets Sizes: 159, 169, 179
Chris Haworth has reviewed the K2 Skis Fujative skis
The new Fujative just looks fantastic and is sure to be a hit with jibbers world wide. Very much a dedicated to Park use they are great at buttering, stomping and spinning. The balance of lightness, Park-specific flex and 85mm underfoot are reassuringly excellent in the skis domain. Outside of the Park they are tolerable but not designed for Freeriding and a cruise on piste will feel somewhat average. Certainly one of the ultimate Park skis for 2006-7 and great performers but don’‘t go buying them just for the looks if you don’‘t dedicate your days to jibbing.

If you consider the Seth as the enhanced powder ski of the Public Enemy, the Fujative is the enhanced pipe and park ski. It has a little extra underfoot compared to the Public Enemy that makes for more stable landings from big airs. This ski is K2s best freestyle pipe and park ski, so if you are considering buying a ski for this purpose the Fujative is certainly the best for it. However, as the performance in the park is beyond exceptional, you will have a hard time anywhere else in the mountain. So if the only skiing you intend to do is laps of the park then choose this ski, don’‘t be fooled by the cool graphics unless you are really serious about the park. I took this ski out for a test run and in the park and i could see exactly why these skis are so good in the park, they allow for extra air, a much comfier landing than the Public Enemy and they are lightweight, so i was able to perform relativiy hard grabs and maneouvers in the air easily compared to other twin tips i have used. All up, i recommend this ski highly but only if you use it for the purpose it was designed for.
