A true transition between the Northern and Southern Alps, the Hautes-Alpes have an atmosphere all of their own. The mountain environment changes radically from Serre Chevalier, situated at the foot of the Parc des Ecrins, to Orres, the most southerly resort. But while the more temperate climates benefit from vegetation, the sun is a frequent visitor to the entire area. As for skiers, they can enjoy forest-skiing in a very natural setting. The only drawback: the long road access to the resorts.
