Zag’‘s Gold for 2007 remains super-fat and expensive, a bit like Oprah before her well-documented diet!! A whopping 140mm at the tip, they might not be the stiffest or fastest Freeride skis but width is critical for those deep, deep powder days when your helicopter is waiting. Zag improved their tuning when testing this year and as a result you could feel much better what the Gold’‘s are aiming for, they are skiing’‘s equivalent of surfings “Longboard”. Consistently smooth, fast and cruisey, even through very rough and tough snow conditions they are relaxing ride and always on your side. Perhaps not highest in the stability league for those hard-hitting, straight runnin’‘ Scandi-style skiers amongst you, but if it’‘s pure speed you’‘re looking for try try Stockli’‘s DP Pro Model, the AK Rocket Swallowtail from Salomon or Zag’‘s own superb Slap or H 112 models.

The biggest classic Zag for the biggest conditions. Designed to allow mere mortals to ski the whole mountain all day long, the Gold offers, “easy skiing” for all levels of skier even in the toughest of snows. Deep, heavy and crusty snow are a “walk in the park”. In 4 lengths for all skiers and all mountains. All Zag skis use 2 layers of fibreglass on the edge for better reinforcement in Freeride and rails. Radii- 171cm- 12.5m 181cm- 14.5m 191cm- 16.5m 201cm- 19m
