Bettmeralp Ski Resort Information
Next to the largest glacier in the Alps you'll find the fantastic ski resort of Bettmeralp. From this resort at the edge of the Aletsch Glacier you have access to the slopes and facilities of the Aletsch Arena. Composed of the three ski resorts of Bettmeralp, Riederalp, and Fiesch-Eggishorn this ski arena has 104km of groomed pistes and is perfect for snow sports enthusiasts of all ages and levels.
As Bettmeralp sits in the heart of this vast arena you'll have extensive snow sports opportunities on your doorstep - the resort has a variety of accommodation options but all of them have ski-in-ski-out access to the slopes. Perfect for families the entire Aletsch plateau is car-free and Bettmeralp has been awarded the "Families Welcome" quality certificate by the Swiss Tourism Federation. Not only a safe environment for kids, the sports facilities are also child-friendly with several small lifts around the village for children to use and many of the hiking trails accessible with pushchairs. In total on the plateau there are 72km of hiking routes which, along with the cross-country ski trails, open up fantastic panoramic views of the 4,000m high Swiss peaks. And if you want to explore the Alpine scenery away from the pistes and trails, on your skis or board, Bettmeralp has access to extensive freeriding areas which will excite and challenge even the most advanced riders.
For more sedate activities the resort has an natural ice rink where you can enjoy skating as well as curling and other ice sports. And for both an educational and breathtaking experience you can visit the Eiswelt Bettmerhorn exhibition area where you can learn about glaciers and view the Aletsch Glacier from the "Ice Terrace".
And the activities don't stop once the sun goes down on Bettmeralp. With night skiing and hiking, spas and sports centre, excellent restaurants, and lively bars, you'll be spoilt for choice during your après ski hours in and around Bettmeralp.
